'Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has not sought appointment for either HM or PM'

Imphal Times | Imphal, June 5: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said that the Chief Minister of Manipur has not sought any appointment to his office for meeting with the All political party delegation which had headed for New Delhi on June 3. This was conveyed by the Home Minister himself while talking to a delegation of BJP Manipur Pradesh led by its president Ksh. Bhabananda at around 5 am today morning at his official residence at Akbar road New Delhi.


Former Minister O Joy, former president of BJP Manipur Pradesh S. Shantikumar Sharma, General Secretary Media –in-charge Basanta Sharma and spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh RK Sivachandra accompanied the BJP Manipur Pradesh President during the meeting with the Union Home Minister.


In a press statement sent to media houses, BJP Manipur Pradesh President Ksh. Bhabananda expressed shocked to hear the Union home Minister saying that the Chief Minister has not sought any appointment to him, when urged to felicitate meeting with the all political party delegation who are presently camping at New Delhi to apprise the central government leadership for getting assent of the 3 ILPS related Bills - namely Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reformation (7th amendment Bill 2015) and Manipur Shops and Establishment 2nd Amendment Bill 2015, passed by the Manipur legislative Assembly on August 31 last year. The Bills are still pending for presidential assent.

The press communiqué further said that the state BJP delegation apprises the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to get approval of the 3 Bills as the contents is neither anti national nor anti tribal but to protect the indigenous people of a region. The delegation also cited example of the similar legislation being enforce at Shimla and Sikkim.

On an answer to the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, BJP Manipur Pradesh President Ksh Bhabananda replied that there is differences of opinion among the political parties in the state to the 3 three Bills as no one had given any objection. Bhabananda further said that the Bills will not hurt sentiments of any of the community of the state.

The State BJP president also reportedly highlighted the danger of illegal influx in the state from neighbouring countries as well.

The BJP Manipur Pradesh also stated that the Union Home Minister had no knowledge of any appointment with the Prime Minister and at present the prime minister is on tour and will not be available for 5/6 days.

Rajanath was further quoted as saying that if any such appointment is made he being the union Home Minister should know about such meeting. He said the Chief Minister seems to be playing with the Bills for political gains.

Mentioned may be made that Chief Minister O Ibobi had stated that he and the all political party delegation will not return back until they get appointment of the Union Home Minister and the prime Minister. Surprisingly as according to the statement of the BJP Manipur Pradesh, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh had not sought any appointment of either the prime Minister or the Union Home Minister.
